My goldfish has a white raised blisten on his head about the size of a grain of rice. I have been told it may be a fungal infection or a cyst/tumour. Are cysts/tumours dangerous? And what brands of anti fungal treatment are effective! and how do go about treating my fish! i need help, ive had my fish for ages!!!
He only has the one spot which is quite large about a few millemeters across, its right on top of his head, I dont think it is ich because it is too big and theres only one spot, if it is an injury will it just clear itself up?

That does not sound like a fungal infection. I don’t know why just about everyone here says something white on a fish is ich or a fungus……..
A fungal infection will look cottony, like mold on food. And, it’s actually pretty rare to have a true fungal infection. Usually those "fungus infections" people think they have, is really a bacterial infection called flexibacter or columnaris, which needs an antibiotic-not a fungal med.
White raised blister sounds like it may be an injury. Or, more likelly, it’s the start of that bacterial infection I mentioned.

EDIT: If it is just an injury, it may clear up on it’s own. Keep the water quality in excellent condition-do frequent water changes. If it pops open or turns red into an ulcer, then start an antibiotic, like Maracyn Two or tetracycline. Probably be a good idea to pick some up anyway just in case, so you have it on hand.
petsmart,try fungus clear or maracyn
