I love my children and couldnt think of life without them now... I absolutely do not fear growing old.. its a fact and stage of life we will go through.. So, this would not be a difficult choice for me. I would choose eternal life (I know that violates your "rules", but what the heck, we're just pretending anyway, right?). That is where research and research money should be going, in my opinion. You are very right. To extend the human life span without making adjustments to life style and population growth would be a serious mistake. There are so many ways to make such a thing workable, but the problem is with those who use ethics and morality as tools designed to oppose (resist change) and keep such research from happening, claiming that man is playing god. There are likely to be at least 2 maybe even 3 possible pathways for extending human useful life span for hundreds, if not thousands of years. All that is required is to just do the research and develop the necessary scientific protocol.
