Does Vaseline prevent wrinkles?

My friends grandmother who is 70 has been using Vaseline on her face for most of her life. She has amazing skin! She looks fantastic for her age, and skin that ages well doesn’t run in her family.
She claims that Vaseline and a lot of heavy moisturisers and high factor suncreams are the only product behind her great skin.
Now, I understand the sun cream. But what about the Vaseline, does that actually prevent wrinkles?
Thanks everyone!

Vaseline is a product similar to mineral oil. It creates a barrier on the skin and can seal in moisture but will not prevent wrinkles. It is also too large of a molecule to penetrate into the skin, so saying that it is toxic is ludicrous. If your skin is naturally oily or prone to acne the Vaseline can compound the problem and lead to more breakouts. Since the sun accounts for more than 80% of all visible signs of aging, I would suspect that her use of sunscreen has the most to do with her lack of wrinkles.

I am surprised she has good skin because vaseline and other petroleum products are bad for your skin and toxic to your body. She must have very good genes.

That’s a hard question, that may be what she’s eating or drinking not necessarily the vaseline. Besides that vaseline is not good for the body at all it’s the excess of petroleum.
