I am all for ageing gracefully and quite happy with my skin at the moment but has anybody found a serum/wrinkle cream that they have felt actually works and helps to keep skin looking great, I think I look okay for my age and want to stay that way! I currently use Oil of Olay but am happy to buy something more expensive if anyone has found anything that they think actually works. Thanks xxx

According to Paula Begoun, the so-called "cosmetics cop" Olay produces some of the very best skin care products on the market today. She’s an expert in both the art and science of skin care and make-up and has reviewed many products from the perspectives of both scientists who research the claims and everyday users who buy these products. Her site is worth a visit if you are interested in skin care facts that go beyond the usual beauty magazine hype.
There really isn’t anything in the expensive creams that’s worthy of the outrageous prices. In many cases highlighted ingredients are there for show rather than effect. La Prairie’s caviar line is a good example, caviar has no known effect on skin, it only makes the cream seem luxurious by association. Some plant and botanical ingredients can be irritating to the skin, such as horsetail, lavender oil, feverfew, and many expensive products contain large quantities of alcohol, which can burn and dry out the skin.
What does work is good basic skin care. Cleanse the face twice a day, in the morning and the evening. Never go to bed with make-up on, don’t believe any claims about make up being so good you can leave it on overnight, that’s just asking for clogged pores and break outs. Don’t bother with toners, most are just alcohol and that’s bad for skin. Use a moisturizer with UVA/UVB sunscreen every day. Moisturizers should also have anti oxidants, some "cell communicating" ingredients, water binding ingredients and emollients. You might also want to use a retinol or alpha hydroxy creme if you have problem spots such as thick skin spots or slightly dark spots. Again, the drug store’s basic Alpha Hydrox line is less expensive than department store products and has the very same ingredients. And use a good UVA/UVB sunscreen everyday. Nothing ages the skin faster than sun exposure and sun damage. There is a lot of real peer reviewed scientific research to back up the claims of sunscreen preventing wrinkles and premature aging. in fact, it’s the best non-surgical anti aging treatment out there.
I’m (well) over 40 and my pale pasty protected from the sun skin looks much better than many of my friends who were sun worshippers back in the day. I was bummed out when I was younger, but a bout of childhood skin cancer meant I had to have pale pasty skin or risk another round of treatments. I’m happy now that I listened to the doctors.
Here’s the skin care articles from Ms. Begoun’s excellent site. She also has a book "Don’t go to the cosmetics counter without me" and it’s a real eye-opener and worth buying if you are serious about looking and feeling good in your own skin. http://www.cosmeticscop.com/learn-skin-care-facts.aspx
yes
looooooooooool that works…
hi, just to let you know none of them actually work, the creams like eye lift ones etc have a placebo effect they use ingredients such as aloe to make it feel like your skin is tightening when infact it isnt im sorry to tell you see a cosmetic dermatologist nothing wrong with a little assistance xx
36– You need 2 of sand and 1 of cement then
I have tried a few and the general advice I can give is just keep on using it regularly! If you are like me you will forget to use face cream from time to time – and this is what seems to have the most impact on whether a cream works or not.
I have found that most of the L’Oreal creams are actually quite effective (as long as you can make yourself buy them and not think of the dreadful adverts!)
Hi! I’m over 60 and I think I must have tried them all and haven’t found one that works yet, I reckon it’s all a money scam!!!!
have a nose through link below
Nicholas Perricone Advanced Face Firming Activator
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair
Any good, stable Vitamin C serum ( I use Philosophy’s Vitamin C powder that you mix into moisturizer)
But NOTHING can compare to what prescription Retin-A has done for my skin….I would suggest just shelling out the cash for a prescription and going straight for the good stuff, rather than wasting money on lots of over-the-counter creams that won’t perform nearly as well.
On holiday some years back my friend and I met this woman in her late thirties, she looked great, we asked her how she managed to look so young and she told us she used haemorrhoid cream, now she may have been pulling our leg, I did not try the haemorrhoid cream so I don’t know
I bought my mom some Lancome face cream for mothers day a few years back and it made her skin glow! I dont know about reducing the wrinkles, but it made her skin look all dewy and she just had that youthful glow again. So she really like it. You can get it at macys
